Lang Son: Border gate economic development- bright spot from import and export

Import-export activities in the first 6 months of 2025 through Lang Son were bustling, at times exceeding 1,900 vehicles/day. This result affirms that the economic development orientation of Lang Son province's border gate is on the right track with outstanding bright spots.

According to the Lang Son Provincial Statistics Office, in the first 6 months of 2025, with the drastic participation of the entire political system, Lang Son province has streamlined the organization and apparatus of agencies and units under the direction of the Central Government to ensure that the following agencies are put into operation immediately, without interruption.

With the determination to successfully achieve the growth target of 8.75% in 2025, Lang Son province according to Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP of the Government; Directive No. 05/CT-TTg dated March 1, 2025 of the Prime Minister; Resolution No. 154/NQ-CP dated May 31, 2025 of the Government; Provincial leaders, departments, branches, sectors, and localities continue to lead, direct, and urgently, resolutely, and effectively implement the tasks and solutions assigned by the Provincial People's Committee.

At the same time, focus on removing difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for production and business enterprises in the province; strengthen solutions to collect state budget revenue, promote disbursement of public investment capital in 2025; prioritize important sectors and fields, promote investment, consumption, expand product consumption markets... to stimulate economic growth.

Thanks to that, the total product in the area (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 8.37% in the first 6 months of 2025 compared to the same period. Notably, the high customs clearance efficiency of goods equal to the import-export activities of the border gates in the province continues to take place stably at 5 border gates (Huu Nghi international border gate, Dong Dang international railway station border gate, Chi Ma border gate, Tan Thanh border gate, Coc Nam border gate), high customs clearance efficiency at road border gates reaching over 1,650 vehicles/day (the peak day recorded 1,930 vehicles/day). Of which, the average export is about 450-500 vehicles/day (about 80% of which are fruits), the average import is about 1,100-1,150 vehicles/day. The import-export turnover through the province by the end of May 14, 2025 is estimated at 28,442 million USD, of which the turnover of goods with open declarations is 1,793 million USD; the export turnover is estimated at 382 million USD; the import turnover is estimated at 1,411 million USD.

In the first 6 months of 2025, Lang Son province has focused on implementing activities to promote, attract investment, trade, and tourism stimulus programs; improving the investment and business environment; establishing a working group to deploy a peak in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

At the 2025 Customs - Business Dialogue Conference organized by Region VI Customs on May 28, 2025, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Doan Thanh Son emphasized that in the coming time, Lang Son will continue to focus on leading and directing the effective implementation of tasks and solutions to continue improving the investment and business environment, actively implementing policies to support investment attraction, especially projects, investors, businesses with strategic potential, and large key projects with spillover and breakthrough effects.

At the same time, develop border gates in the province in the direction of creating specialized values ​​for each border gate; synchronously deploy solutions to ensure smooth customs clearance of import and export goods.

Lang Son also accelerates the implementation of the Pilot Project to build Smart Border Gates to ensure progress according to the set plan; continues to invest in developing border gate infrastructure and logistics, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities; promotes the implementation of trade promotion activities, expands export markets; strengthens coordination with central ministries, branches and relevant localities to remove barriers, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities.

According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the city's import and export activities in the first half of 2025 grew quite well. Export turnover is estimated at 31.6 billion USD, up 13.3%; import turnover is estimated at 24.9 billion USD, up 13.2% over the same period in 2024. Thus, Ho Chi Minh City has a trade surplus of nearly 7 billion USD.

In addition, industrial production and commercial activities in the city have both grown. Accordingly, the growth rate of the city's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months of 2025 is estimated at 7.4%.

In particular, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 0.65%; the industry and construction sector increased by 6.70%; The service sector contributed the most to the GRDP growth, up 8.58%, and product taxes minus product subsidies increased by 6.11%; budget revenue was estimated at 322 trillion VND, reaching more than 62% of the estimate, up 20.4% over the same period.

In general, total retail sales of goods and service revenue increased by 16.2%; total FDI attraction reached more than 5.2 billion USD; budget revenue was estimated at 415 trillion VND, reaching 60% of the estimate.
